If you create an estimate in QuickBooks using the default templates you will have a “cost” or price column. If, however, you modify the template to include the “markup” column, the estimate will not show the unit price. The “cost” column now changes to be the cost, not price. This feature also works with Estimates, when you are using the QuickBooks “markup” feature.
There are occasions when the markup must be changed in an estimate. You can edit the markup in the estimate directly in QuickBooks, but if you want to change the markup in all of the detail lines of an estimate this can be a tedious task. The global update feature automates this process.
