An Inventory Assembly is one kind of item that you can manipulate in your QuickBooks inventory list. This is a manufactured or purchased item that is composed of multiple inventory part items or other inventory assemblies. It contains a list of component items, which can also be called a Bill of Materials. In QuickBooks the component items can only be inventory items or other inventory assemblies.
